In a field thick with projections, manufacturing rate and verified deployment are the hard currency. In H2 2026 the quiet builders are pulling ahead of the loud ones.

Figure built its 1,000th humanoid at a sustained rate of one robot per hour and completed an eleven-month pilot at BMW's Spartanburg plant. A build-rate number is hard currency: it means an actual production line making actual robots, and a completed long pilot means the robot was tested past demo conditions into whether it earns its place on a real line.

Attention is not deployment

The contrast is stark. Tesla Optimus commands the most public interest of any humanoid program, yet its production had not started as of mid-July and its counts have never been audited. Interest is not robots on lines, and 2026 is the year the two decoupled.

The scoreboard that matters

Figure at 1,000 units, AgiBot at 15,000 cumulative, Boston Dynamics' Atlas fully committed for the year — the companies posting verifiable numbers are pulling ahead of those posting targets. The market and the customers running pilots are learning to weight shipped units over announced ambitions.

The lesson generalises: in a hype-heavy field, the durable signal is the boring one. Manufacturing rate, completed pilots, audited counts. The humanoid race in H2 2026 is being won on the loading dock, not the keynote stage.
