Anthropic's largest-ever acquisition target makes real-time video and simulated worlds. Its team would land in inference and performance, which tells you what is actually being bought.

Frame rate is an honest benchmark
Most generative video is asynchronous — prompt, wait, receive. Real-time transformation of a live feed removes the wait, and the wait is where efficiency shortcuts hide. You can claim efficiency in a benchmark; you cannot fake 30 frames a second.
Virtual try-on is a genuinely hard target: garment geometry tracking a moving body, consistent lighting, occlusion resolved correctly, every frame, no re-renders.
The other model solves a data problem
Embodied learning has no internet to scrape. Every hour of manipulation or driving data costs an hour of real hardware in the real world, and the events that matter are rare by definition. Generated environments turn data collection into a compute problem, and compute scales in ways robot fleets do not.
The sim-to-real gap is the standing objection and it has not been retired. A policy trained in a generated world learns that world's physics, errors included.
But you cannot wait for the events you most need to test against.
Two thousand robotaxis are heading into five European cities where the fleet has no operating history. Simulation is one of the few ways to validate against conditions that have not happened yet.

The team would join inference and performance — not a video product group. Decart pairs its models with software that improves chip utilisation, and the video work is the proof the utilisation work is real.
Anthropic is not buying video. It is buying people who have made hardware go further, and paying a ~50% premium because its capacity is contracted years in advance.
