OpenAI ships GPT-5.5 Instant: smarter, clearer, more personalized
A point-release iteration on GPT-5 focused on response quality, reduced hallucinations, and finer-grained personalization controls. Available in the API and ChatGPT.
OpenAI rolled out GPT-5.5 Instant on May 5. Per OpenAI's own release notes the model targets three deltas vs. base GPT-5: stronger short-answer accuracy, fewer factual hallucinations on benchmarks the company runs internally, and a richer surface for users to tune voice and behavior. No new modalities; no architectural disclosure.
