Anthropic raises Claude Code weekly limits 50% through July 13 — fueled by SpaceX/Colossus capacity

Anthropic announced a temporary 50% increase in Claude Code weekly usage limits through July 13, 2026. The expansion stacks on top of the earlier doubling of the 5-hour limits (May 6) and is fueled by the SpaceX/Colossus 1 compute deal that came online in late April.

The headline number is good for Claude Code power users — particularly Pro and Max tier customers running background agents across multi-repo workspaces. The doubled 5-hour limits already removed most friction for high-intensity sessions; this further 50% bump tops up the weekly cap.

The Colossus 1 capacity deal — disclosed when the limits were first doubled on May 6 — is the operational backbone. xAI/SpaceX is now effectively Anthropic's second-source compute supplier alongside AWS and Google Cloud. The arrangement is unusual in defense-tech adjacency: Anthropic's safety posture historically kept it away from such partnerships.
