Cursor hits $2B ARR at $60B valuation — AI coding tool market crosses $7B annual revenue

Anysphere (the company behind Cursor) reached $2 billion in annualized recurring revenue in March 2026, valued at up to $60 billion. The broader AI coding-tool market crossed $7 billion in annual revenue in April 2026 — a category that did not meaningfully exist three years ago. Cursor introduced .cursorrules in February 2026 for project-specific AI behavior configuration.

$2B ARR in three years from a category-creation product is the story of the cycle. Cursor's growth pattern — 360K paying users at $20/month entry tier, plus enterprise contracts — shows that developers are willing to pay for AI-augmented IDEs when the integration is good enough.

The $60B valuation, however, is the question mark. At 30× ARR, Cursor is priced like the category winner already — and the field is not actually consolidated. Windsurf (acquired by Cognition for $250M), GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and Codex all overlap Cursor's target user. See our analysis → on whether the moat is durable.
