Salesforce launches Agentforce Coworker beta — embeds an AI teammate directly inside enterprise search interfaces
Salesforce opened the beta on Agentforce Coworker on May 22, an Agentforce surface that embeds an AI teammate inside the searchable interfaces enterprise users already live in. The launch follows Agentforce 3's per-action billing model and pushes Salesforce further into the per-seat-replacement frame that has been politically toxic but commercially obvious for two years.
Coworker's design choice is to colonize the search bar rather than the workflow. The bet is that office workers are already conditioned to ask questions in search interfaces — internal wikis, CRM record search, document repositories — and an AI teammate that answers in that surface beats one that lives in a separate chat panel. The product reads more like a Slack-vs-Teams positioning move than a Salesforce-vs-Microsoft one.
The pricing question is unresolved. Salesforce's per-action billing for Agentforce 3 mapped cleanly to verifiable business outcomes. A Coworker that answers questions inside search is harder to measure that way. Enterprise procurement teams will press on whether Coworker actions get counted at the same rate as Agentforce 3 actions, since the action definitions are blurrier when the agent's job is to answer rather than to act.
