1X NEO crosses 10,000 home pre-orders — first US home deliveries expected late 2026, $20,000 outright or $499/month subscription

1X — the OpenAI-backed humanoid-robot company — has crossed 10,000 home pre-orders for the NEO unit, with first US deliveries expected by end of 2026. Pricing is $20,000 outright or $499/month subscription. The pre-order milestone makes 1X the largest consumer-humanoid order book in the West and validates the home-deployment thesis Tesla and Figure are betting on but haven't yet shipped.

The 1X order economics are the news. At $20,000 outright × 10,000 units = $200M committed, or at $499/mo × 10,000 = $5M/mo recurring. Either way, the company has a customer-deposit-funded production runway that doesn't depend on dilutive capital raises. Compare to Tesla's Optimus consumer-sales target (end-2027) and Figure 03 (factory-only, no consumer SKU at any price). 1X is the only Western humanoid that has actual consumer customers who have committed cash.

The Chinese competitive context matters. Unitree shipped 5,500+ G1 units in 2025 at $17,990, primarily into research-lab and small-enterprise channels rather than consumer homes. 1X's NEO is the consumer-positioned product at a price point that's $2,000 above Unitree but bundled with OpenAI-trained software and a US home-support infrastructure. The race for 2027 is whether the OpenAI-1X stack can hold its margin advantage when Unitree, Xpeng's humanoid line, and Figure all converge on the same consumer price band.
