Cursor Composer 2.5 launches Build in Parallel and PR review — agent orchestration moves from single-task to multi-stream developer surface
Cursor's Composer 2.5 launch on May 18 includes two new product surfaces beyond the model itself: Build in Parallel (multiple coding agents running concurrently against the same codebase) and PR review (agents that analyze pull requests against project standards). The combination moves Cursor from single-task IDE to multi-stream developer-workflow platform.
The Build in Parallel surface is the architecturally important new piece. Through 2025-early-2026 the agentic-coding interaction model was single-threaded: one agent, one task, completed before starting the next. Cursor's Build in Parallel runs multiple agents simultaneously against the same codebase with conflict-resolution at the file level — the developer can spawn five concurrent tasks (one per failing test, say, or one per code-review comment), let them work in parallel, and merge the resulting branches when they complete. The mental model converges with what developers already do with multiple Git branches; the execution speeds up by 3-5× for tasks that genuinely parallelize.
The PR review surface is the workflow integration that makes Cursor a serious enterprise contender. Agent-driven PR review (analyze diffs against project standards, security policy, test coverage, naming conventions) has been a feature most agent-coding products tried and most got wrong because the review quality matched the underlying model's general code-review capability. Composer 2.5 is the first model trained specifically on PR-review workflows — its review outputs are bounded to the codebase context and the project's previous review patterns. For enterprise customers, that bounded behavior is the difference between an agent that helps and an agent that creates noise.
