1X Neo home pilot expands to 200 households — Norwegian humanoid maker confirms multi-month deployment, onboard task-learning enabled by per-household personalization layer
1X Technologies confirmed on May 28 that the Neo home-pilot deployment has expanded to 200 households across the US and Norway, with multi-month deployment durations and onboard task-learning enabled by a per-household personalization layer. The pilot is the largest consumer-segment humanoid deployment to date and tests the home-environment task-generalization that the segment has been working toward.
The deployment scale is the substantive piece. 1X's prior Neo pilots — through 2024-2025 — operated in small-scale deployments (sub-50-household range) with the humanoid focused on a narrow set of pre-trained tasks (laundry handling, dish loading, basic tidying). The expanded 200-household pilot includes the onboard task-learning capability that lets the humanoid pick up household-specific routines from human demonstration, with the per-household personalization layer maintained as a lightweight fine-tune on top of the base model. The multi-month deployment durations let the company measure the task-generalization across the long tail of household-specific routines that no pre-training corpus can fully capture.
The competitive-deployment context is the humanoid-segment fork. Figure 03's Fremont demo and BMW production-deployment confirmation represent the industrial-segment trajectory; 1X Neo's consumer-segment expansion is the parallel trajectory on the home-deployment side. The two segments have substantially different operational profiles: industrial deployments operate in structured environments with narrow task profiles and stable infrastructure; home deployments operate in unstructured environments with broad task profiles and per-household variation. The May 28 deployment milestones — Figure 03 walking demo plus 1X Neo 200-household pilot — collectively mark the transition from R&D-stage humanoid development to operational deployment across both segments.
