Cursor shipped Composer 2.5 on May 18 with cloud agent dev environments, Microsoft Teams integration, and the Build in Parallel capability that lets multiple agents work concurrently inside the same project. The release confirms the parallel-agent direction the agent-coding category has been converging on for months — and positions Cursor at the pair-programmer end of the spectrum opposite Devin's autonomous-engineer positioning.
The parallel-agent capability is the substantive technical advance. Through 2024-2025 the dominant agent-coding pattern was single-agent: one agent at a time working on one task at a time, with the developer orchestrating handoffs between sessions. Composer 2.5's Build in Parallel inverts that pattern by letting multiple agents run concurrently inside the same project — different agents on different files, different branches, or different parts of the same refactor — coordinated through the workspace state rather than serialized through the developer. The cloud agent dev environments mean the parallel agents run on remote infrastructure rather than the developer's local machine, removing the laptop-compute bottleneck.
