Agent-payment and agent-security infrastructure draws record rounds as the plumbing gets funded

Airwallex raised $320 million at an $11 billion valuation to build tools for agent-led purchasing, while Straiker's $64 million Series A took its total to $85 million securing enterprise agents. Capital has rotated from agent capability to the rails agents will transact on.

A payments company raising three hundred million specifically for machine-initiated purchasing is a wager on a market that barely exists yet. The bet is that within a few years a meaningful share of commercial transactions will be initiated by software acting for a person or a company, and that whoever owns authorisation, limits and dispute handling for those transactions owns something durable.

Security funding is the mirror image. Straiker and Zenity are both selling the same underlying proposition — that autonomous software inside corporate systems is a new attack surface requiring purpose-built controls — and investors are treating that as an inevitability rather than a hypothesis.

The rotation from capability to infrastructure is how platform shifts mature. Early money funds what is possible; later money funds what makes it safe and settleable at scale. That the plumbing rounds are now the largest in the agent category suggests the market has stopped asking whether agents will transact and started preparing for when they do.
