Kuaishou's Kling 3.0 and O3 land on Runway — rivals now distribute through each other
Kling 3.0 — native 4K, integrated audio, multi-shot sequencing — is now available on all paid Runway plans alongside Runway's own Gen-4 models. A Chinese video model distributing through an American rival's platform says the video-generation race is becoming a distribution race, not a model race.
Runway hosting Kling is the video market admitting what the text market already learned: no single model wins every shot, so the platform that aggregates models beats the platform that insists on its own. Production teams already pair models by task — bulk continuity from one, hero shots from another — and Runway is positioning itself as the surface where that pairing happens, even when the model is a competitor's.
For Kuaishou, the calculus is reach over exclusivity. Kling's technical case — native one-click 4K, multilingual integrated audio, multi-shot narrative sequencing — only converts into Western production pipelines if it is present where those pipelines live. Distribution through Runway trades platform power for immediate access to exactly the professional users Chinese platforms struggle to reach directly.
The strategic layer is that video generation is consolidating into an aggregator pattern faster than text did. Models churn quarterly; workflows, asset libraries, and team accounts persist. Whoever owns the workflow owns the customer through every model generation — which is why Runway is becoming a multi-model storefront and why every model maker without a workflow product should be nervous.
