Rubin reaches full production as Nvidia extends past the accelerator

Nvidia's Rubin platform is in full production with partner products arriving in the second half of 2026, and CoreWeave integrating Rubin-based systems into its cloud. The platform now spans six new chips — and the strategic move of the year has been Nvidia expanding outward from the accelerator into CPUs, networking and the rack itself.

Owning the accelerator was always a strong position. Owning the CPU, the interconnect and the rack specification turns a component business into a platform business, and platform businesses are considerably harder to displace — competitors must match not one product but an integrated stack their customers have already built around.

That is also the honest answer to why credible alternatives keep failing to convert. AMD's MI300 line, Intel's Gaudi accelerators, and the custom silicon programmes at Google, Amazon and Microsoft are all real. What none of them replaces is the surrounding system, and the switching cost lives there rather than in the chip.

The strategic risk for buyers is not price, it is optionality. Every generation that ships as an integrated rack is a generation in which the practical ability to mix vendors declines — and it is compounding at the same time as GB300 concentration.
