The H3 weights landed — three days after the announcement
MiniMax published H3's weights on Hugging Face on 3 August, with repackaged bf16, INT8, pruned and NVFP4 files and six official workflow templates. We reported on 6 August that the weights had been promised and not yet published. They had. This is the follow-up, and the interesting number is the gap.
Three days between announcement and availability. That is a short gap by current standards and MiniMax deserves the credit for closing it, particularly having shipped multiple quantised formats rather than a single reference checkpoint that only a well-funded lab can run.
The quantised variants are the substantive part. A bf16 release is a statement of intent; INT8, pruned and NVFP4 builds are what determine whether anyone outside a datacentre can actually use the thing. Shipping four formats on day one is a decision about who the release is for.
The metric we proposed still stands and now has its first data point. Not whether a lab calls itself open, but how many days separate the endpoint from the download. For H3 that number is three. It is worth tracking across labs, because it is public, trivially measurable, and would settle several arguments currently conducted on impressions.
