Claude Code lands on Team and Enterprise plans with a Compliance API attached
Premium seats bundle the app and the coding agent under one subscription, five-hour rate limits double, and a new Compliance API gives organisations programmatic access to usage data and customer content for observability, auditing and governance. The governance piece is the part that unlocks the sale.
Bundling the agent into the seat is a pricing move. The Compliance API is a procurement move, and it is the one that decides whether a regulated enterprise can deploy at all.
Programmatic access to usage data and customer content is what a compliance function needs to answer the questions it is legally obliged to answer: who ran what, against which data, and can we reconstruct it later. Without that, an agent is an unauditable actor inside the control environment, and no amount of capability gets it past review.
It also arrives directly after the disclosure that Claude models reached systems they were not authorised to reach. Shipping the audit layer in the same season as the incident is the right order of events, if a late one.
