Grok Bot ships with a cloud computer per agent — and a price per agent, not per person
The first joint product from the SpaceX/xAI and Cursor merger launched on 11 August: always-on agents with persistent memory that sign into your applications, each with its own virtual machine. Access runs through SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra at $200/month, and Cursor Teams Premium at $120 per seat per month.
The product is a team of persistent agents. The news is the billing unit. Once each bot has its own virtual machine and its own logins, a "seat" stops describing a human and starts describing a worker — and the entire SaaS pricing model is built on the first meaning.
Mechanically: you hand work to a bot the way you would hand it to a colleague, in chat, without first building a workflow or an automation. The bot runs the task end to end and comes back only when something needs approval. Memory persists between tasks. Each agent gets a cloud computer, which is what makes signing into third-party applications tractable rather than a demo.
The corporate context is worth stating plainly, because it explains the urgency. Cursor went from a $29bn standalone company to a $60bn SpaceX acquisition inside a year, and this is the first thing the combined entity has shipped. Grok Bot is also an explicit answer to Claude Cowork.
Per-user pricing has one structural weakness: it assumes the number of workers is bounded by the number of employees. Agent-seat pricing removes that ceiling for the vendor and installs a meter for the buyer. Every incumbent still charging per user is now holding a price list that describes a workforce that no longer exists.
