AgiBot overtakes Unitree as humanoid shipments triple and China takes 97%

Global humanoid shipments hit roughly 19,100 units in the first half of 2026, up 272% from 5,100 a year earlier. AgiBot took the top spot with about 8,400 units and a 44% share, ahead of Unitree's 5,900 and 31%. Chinese manufacturers accounted for over 97% of shipments; industrial and commercial uses are now over 70%.

Two numbers do the work. Shipments tripled, and industrial and commercial applications passed 70% of them. The first says the category is growing; the second says it stopped being research procurement and became capital equipment.

The competitive detail is that AgiBot passed Unitree, 8,400 units to 5,900, 44% share to 31% — a lead change inside a market this young, with an IPO push behind it. Chinese firms shipped roughly 18,500 of the 19,100 total against about 4,000 from the United States.

Volume leadership at this stage is manufacturing leadership, not capability leadership, and the two can stay separate for a long time. Shipping units means supply chain, cost and assembly throughput are solved; it says comparatively little about whether the deployed robots do valuable work reliably. That distinction is the strongest form of the sceptical case.

It is also the case that manufacturing scale is how the capability question eventually gets answered. Units in the field generate operating data, and operating data is what improves the policies. Boston Dynamics is sold out for 2026, which is a different constraint with the same lesson: the bottleneck has moved from can-it-work to can-you-build-enough.
