Tesla passes 50,000 cumulative Optimus units
Cumulative units built, against Figure AI's 10,000-plus deployments across partner warehouses. Those two numbers count different things, and the difference is the entire state of the humanoid market.
Tesla has passed 50,000 cumulative Optimus units. Figure AI has surpassed 10,000 deployments across partner warehouses. Both figures are real and they are not comparable.
Cumulative units built counts manufacturing. Deployments across partner sites counts robots doing work for someone who is not the manufacturer. The first is a production statistic; the second is a demand statistic; and only one of them tells you whether the product works.
The reporting is blunt about the ranking that results. Figure and Agility hold the strongest verified deployment records — not Tesla. That is a claim about third-party-verifiable placement rather than about capability, and it is the claim that matters for anyone deciding whether to run a pilot.
There is a timing wrinkle that complicates the 50,000 figure. Optimus production at Fremont had not started as of mid-July, with guidance pointing at late July or August. A large cumulative number and an unstarted production line at the flagship facility are both true and describe different lines.
The sector's honest summary is that humanoids have left the perpetual-demo phase and entered early commercial deployment. Figure, 1X, Apptronik, Agility and Tesla all have units in customer pilots. Pilots are not payroll.
